Field Study 3 is a course designed to give experiential learning to prospective teachers as part of the pre - service training. It seeks to broaden the understanding of some concerns and issues besetting the teaching profession.

As one of the requirements in Field Study 3, this speaks out of the Immersion 2013 of the third year students taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics. But, you may wonder what immersion really is? In simple terms, immersion may be defined as submerging or immersing yourself to a community or groups of people. However, College of Education introduces Immersion to the third year students of the said college, as an instrument to garner more confidence, face the reality outside West Visayas State University premises and become best teachers as much as we can be.
Third year students of College of Education were given the responsibility to involve themselves in a rural school and community. This kind of activity enables the students to practice compassion through teaching. The class organizes activities throughout the week in order for the high school students appreciate learning, primarily Math subject, and to let them enjoy the company of the class. Through this, it may promote learning experiences.
Third year students of BSED Math had an immersion last January 6-12, 2013 at East Valencia National High School and in the Aeta Community of Sitio Sirom, San Nicholas. These were both in Buenavista, Guimaras.
This technical report shows the activities conducted at the said places. Moreover, it presents what immersion really is to Math majors.
